A royal 40 for 40

Sunday April 27, 2025 sounds like a great day for a run!

The RBWH gave me back my life and I'm still saying thank you, more than 10 years later.

2025 is the 40th year of the RBWH Foundation. On April 27 I'll be running 40 kilometres and I would love you to join me. You might be thinking that 40 kilometres is a bit excessive, and you would be right, but a birthday this big deserves an excessive party.

As we get closer to the day, I'll release a timetable and a map outlining the distance remaining and where I will be at certain times in the morning. If you want to join me for 30 kilometres you'll know where and when to join me. You could join me for all 40k, for 30k, for 21.1k, 10k, 5k, 1k, 200m, anything, and we will all finish as one.

Let's team up and help the RBWH Foundation to support the amazing work of the Royal Brisbane.

April 27 course

Monday 7th Apr
This is our course for the day, a four kilometre stretch of path along Enoggera Creek through Windsor, Wilston, Newmarket. We will run out and back along this path and have the bridge near the Downey Park netball courts as the start line for all distances (except 200m) in the previous post. The same bridge will be our finish line.

Your starting times

Tuesday 18th Mar
I'll start my 40km at 6:00am on April 27 and aim to run at a consistent 6:30/km. Below are your starting times for distances remaining, allowing us to finish as one. It's probably worth arriving 5-10 minutes early to allow for errors in pacing.

30km remaining: 7:05am
21.1km remaining: 8:03am
20km remaining: 8:10am
15km remaining: 8:42am
10km remaining: 9:15am
5km remaining: 9:47am
2km remaining: 10:07am
1km remaining: 10:13am
200m remaining: 10:18am

FINISH: 10:20am

For those running the entire 40km, there is a large chance that we will start with a 2.2km warmup at 5:45am. You know why...

Map coming soon.
