The RBWH Foundation is the charity that supports Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH), helping to fund life-saving research and advances in patient care. We also partner with Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS), Redcliffe Hospital, and significant institutes in the Herston Health Precinct, to support their fundraising goals.

RBWH Foundation exists to connect those who wish to give with the most potent opportunities to make a difference, now and in the future. Our connection with some of Australia’s brightest medical minds inspires us. 

In 2022, the RBWH Foundation was honoured to be named inaugural Queensland Community Foundation Philanthropic Foundation of the Year.

Despite Australia’s reliance on our brightest medicals minds to improve health globally, few people realise that most medical and clinician-led research projects do not receive government funding, meaning that many cannot proceed.

A 2022 report from Research Australia explained that:

• most research projects do not receive government funding which means they must source other funding from non-government organisations including not-for-profit organisations such as RBWH Foundation
• 55% of researchers must resubmit for finance as often as every 12 months

While most hospitals in Australia, including the RBWH, receive government funding for patient care, additional funding allows the RBWH to go above and beyond for patients and their families, ensuring they receive further vital support and care during medical treatment.

Our RBWH Foundation volunteer Compassion Crew is a friendly, welcoming point of contact for patients, families and visitors. Crew members are dynamic individuals who selflessly give their time on a weekly basis and come from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds, ages and levels of experience.
