There is no greater generosity than that which saves a life
When you make a donation to the RBWH Foundation, your generosity buys the gift of time.
Time for researchers to develop breakthrough treatments. Time for doctors to consider new diagnoses and provide the best possible care for their patients. And time for families to continue to enjoy every precious moment with the people they love, hopeful about what the future holds.
Retro Revival of the Royal Run for Research!
Maryborough miracle mum, Juliette McAleer, is urging Queenslanders to join her in the RBWH Foundation’s ‘Royal Run for Research’ this April, as she continues to chart new territory for tube-fed marathon runners.
The iconic Royal Run for Research is Brisbane’s oldest fun run, established in the late eighties to raise vital funds for patient care innovation and life-saving medical research. After a short hiatus during COVID-19, the fun run is back, bigger and better than ever with its first ever virtual event. Participants can choose to run or walk during the month of April, and then log their distance online.
“You never know when you might need the expertise of our State’s largest hospital - and I hope you never do - but it is comforting to know they’re there, constantly working to implement the most up to date medical research, knowledge and technology to save lives,” said Juliette.
In 2020, Juliette almost died from a twisted bowel that killed most of her small bowel and stomach. She was flown to RBWH where she spent six months, undergoing multiple life-saving surgeries.

Our health heroes through the eyes of a best-selling author
Join our inaugural Artist in Residence, best-selling Brisbane author Nick Earls, as he reveals week-by-week the passion and dedication of 40 ‘humans at the heart of healthcare’, who have left their mark on the RBWH Foundation’s 40-year history.
Nick's fascinating collection ‘Lady Lamington’s Trowel & other short stories’ is an extraordinary tribute to resilience, generosity, ingenuity and the RBWH Foundation.
This special project provided a nostalgic return to RBWH for Nick Earls: as a young medical student, he trained at Royal Brisbane before discovering his heart lay with words, not wards. Nick's background in medicine was invaluable in this groundbreaking project.
