Congratulations to recipients of the 2024 Sir Ian McFarlane Nursing Awards, an initiative of the RBWH Foundation.
The awards were established in the late 1980s by Sir Ian McFarlane, founding Chairman of the RBWH Foundation.
“My father would be absolutely thrilled to see the career trajectory of the nurses and midwives who have been recognised over the years, through this award,” said John McFarlane, Sir Ian’s son and also a former RBWH Foundation board member.
“In the late seventies, my father had a few medical issues which required stays in a Sydney hospital.
“He got talking to the nursing staff and realised there was a lot of untapped knowledge and capability and he wanted to change that.”
