Associate Professor Cliff Pollard AM (Chair)
Associate Professor Cliff Pollard AM is the former Chair of the Statewide Trauma Clinical Network and was previously Director of Trauma Services at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, and Director of the Queensland Trauma Registry at the Centre of National Research in Disability and Rehabilitation Medicine, The University of Queensland.
Cliff did his surgical training in Queensland and obtained post Fellowship experience in the United Kingdom. He was initially Staff Surgeon and then Director of Surgery at Redcliffe Hospital before becoming a Visiting Medical Officer in general surgery. Cliff currently sits on a number of committees, was an instructor for the Definitive Surgical Trauma Course and was a lecturer for Queensland Ambulance Service Paramedic Program. He was an instructor and director in the Early Management of Severe Trauma Course and is a past examiner in the General Surgical Court of the RACS. He is a module facilitator in the Advanced Surgical Anatomy Course and holds an Adjunct Associate Professor position in the School of Medicine, The University of Queensland. As a member of the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps, he deployed to Bougainville and East Timor. Among his professional visits and study leave tours, Cliff has been Visiting Surgeon at Baragwanth Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa; Visiting Clinician at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota; and has completed visits to various trauma clinics in the USA.
