MoveForLex

Friday 27 August 2021

On July 17, 2021, life for Noosa triathlete Alexa Leary and her family changed in an instant.

Lex suffered life-changing injuries in a horrific cycling accident while training on the Sunshine Coast. She spent the next few weeks in an induced coma in the Intensive Care Unit of Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH).

The successful triathlete, who embarked on her professional career 10 months ago, remains in RBWH where she recently celebrated her 20th birthday.

Lex’s strength and determination has inspired moveforlex.

All funds raised through moveforlex will support enhanced care at the RBWH neurology ward and a new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) family support program called We C U, which will assist loved ones through this very difficult stage of treatment. Assistance will encompass emotional, physical support, financial and accommodation support. The concept is based on medical evidence demonstrating a well-supported family of ICU patients aids in patient recovery and reduces the trauma experienced by families.
Fundraising for this program is vital.

All donations to moveforlex are made through RBWH Foundation and will go directly to the purpose for which they are intended – to reduce the trauma and loss suffered by families of ICU patients and to provide enhanced neurological care.

Donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible.

If you would like to make a major donation of $5,000 or more please contact Nadeyn Barbieri at n.barbieri@rbwhfoundation.com.au or call 0410 011 446.

Thank you in advance for your kind donation.
